Festival founder Khan Dela Cruz’s exclamation of ‘Wasak’ are quite apt for the Baguio leg of the festival; there is an insane amount of music, literature and of course, film, headed to the City of Pines this October 21, 2011.

The 4th .Mov International Film, Music, & Literature Festival included a workshop with film critic and author Chris Fujiwara, who also served as one of the judges in the festival. In this short interview, he talks about film criticism and his thoughts on Philippine cinema.

The Folk U series of singer-songwriter shindigs is the brainchild of siblings Khavn and Ledh de la Cruz, collectively known as Fando & Lis. The idea behind Folk U being to weed out the unsung singer-songwriters in the country and give them a platform to showcase their work and at the same time, take established performers out of their comfort zones.

Part of what makes this year’s 4th .MOV Film Music and Literature Festival unique is the way it’s thrown music and literature into the mix. Not that it hasn’t done this before but in the last .MOV, the music and literature components had very strong filmic connections, namely Roxlee, whose graphic novel Planet of the Noses was launched, and Lav Diaz, who released his debut CD of original songs, Impyerno.

The 4th .MOV International Film, Music, and Literature was closed by John Torres’s Mapang-akit. The film was warmly received by audience members at UP Cine Adarna. At the Q&A that followed the screening, John talked about the process of shooting the film that pays tribute to his friends Alexis Tioseco and Nika Bohinc.
